目標 Aims:

Our English Language curriculum is designed to support WCHers in building a solid foundation in English, fostering lifelong learning and effective communication of knowledge, ideas, values, attitudes, and experiences. This approach will help them become independent learners who embody wisdom and charisma within this nurturing, home-like environment.

課程特色
Features of the school-based English Language Curriculum:

School-based Reader and RWI Phonics Programm
Key Stage 1 (P.1-3)

To facilitate children’s transition from kindergarten to primary English learning, we replace traditional textbooks with a tailored RWI Phonics programme and readers created by our NET, Mr. Chapman, as well as the “Tina and Friends” and “Lee Family” series in the first semester.

It motivates learning while encouraging creativity through language arts activities such as puppet shows, games, and show-and-tell.

Key Stage 2 (P.4-6)

The design of the school-based RWT (Reading and Writing Task) facilitates the development of a “reading to learn” culture, helping learners acquire effective reading skills. The Epic! Reading platform is employed to promote extensive and intensive reading.

With BYOD, we are able to utilize a wide range of interactive teaching platforms (e.g., Wordwall, Kahoot!, Socrative, and Padlet) to enhance learning effectiveness and student motivation, catering to individual differences and improving students’ ability for self-directed learning.

School-based drama lessons taught by our NET, Mr. Hugo, allow every student to experience different drama strategies (hot-seating, still-image, flashback, thought-tracking) and provide opportunities to use English in class.

Integration of Learning Contexts

We strive for excellence in creating a language-rich environment for WCHers, as we believe that English proficiency is best developed through enjoyable learning experiences.
Life-wide learning encourages learners to use English in diverse contexts, such as at home, in the community, and during leisure activities. This integration helps reinforce language skills in real-life situations.

P.4 project-based learning (Dear Mr. Earth and Neighbours) connects General Studies knowledge with visual arts, teaching students about environmental protection and helping them use English comprehensively while developing dictionary and information-handling skills.
